Many people ask the question what is the cause of panic attacks? – And to provide an accurate answer is extremely difficult if not impossible, but why –because the cause of a panic or anxiety attack varies from person to person because they are natural responses of individuals. Therefore I will not deceive anybody into categorizing set activities that cause or trigger a panic or anxiety attack; rather I will make you aware that the causes are generally dependant upon genetics, stress and the manner in which an individual’s brain responds to activities.
Also I would like to draw your attention to the common phrase of ‘Fight or Flight’, and it´s role in the cause of panic and anxiety attacks. Let´s look at a basic example – if you were to be walking down the street and you hear a car screeching it´s tires and it mounts the pavement, or sidewalk – if you had no emotion, anxiety or panic you would be putting yourself in serious danger, therefore the bodies natural reaction is top trigger these 3 factors throughout the brain and body. Where as some people will allow that feeling to flow through the body and the situation be drawn to a conclusion others of us will hold that emotion which can easily be the cause of a panic or anxiety attack.
That was an example of one situation, and in fairness quite an extreme example for the purpose of you to understand how these things have a part in the causes of a panic or anxiety attack. Now the next thing to mention is everybody is unique and not all of us need an extreme situation for the panic or anxiety to be caused and progress into an attack. Sometimes even things such as the thought that you have misplaced something, or left something behind in the market can be enough to cause a panic attack and heighten anxiety.
Many people can place the cause of panic attacks with nerves or stress, and this is definitely a factor but not the only cause as hopefully you may now begin to have an understanding, so to summarize what causes anxiety or panic attacks – Anything, but the reassuring thing to know is that although there are many causes to anxiety and panic there are now may cures also.
